Token & Session Lifetimes

ChatDocs uses secure tokens for authentication. Different token types have different lifetimes depending on their purpose.

Token Type Lifetime Description
Trial Token 1 year Limited by 30 questions, not time (data deleted after 14 days of inactivity)
WhatsApp Source Link 30 minutes Temporary link in WhatsApp answers to view the source page. Expires after 30 minutes, cannot be guessed or tampered with, and only grants access to that specific page
Email Verification Managed by Auth0 Email verification for account sign-up, handled by Auth0

Sources in Answers

Every AI answer includes source citations so you can verify the information. Sources are chosen based on what the AI actually references in its answer (up to 5).

How Sources Work

When you ask a question, ChatDocs searches through your documents and identifies the most relevant sections. Each source includes:

  • Document name and page number
  • Tappable link to view the source page directly
  • Citation marker in the answer text (e.g. [1], [2])

File limits vary by subscription plan. All plans support the same file formats.

Scanned PDF Support

ChatDocs analyzes page images using AI vision models, so diagrams, tables, and visual content in scanned documents are searchable and can be referenced in answers. For best results, scan at 300 DPI or higher with good contrast.

How Rollover Works

Unused questions from your monthly quota carry over to the next billing period. For example, if you use only 700 questions in a month, the remaining 300 questions will be added to your next month's quota.

  • Rollover questions are used after your monthly quota
  • No cap on rollover — keep all your banked questions
  • Downgrading or cancelling resets your rollover balance

How Top-ups Work

If you run out of questions before your billing cycle renews, you can purchase additional questions. Top-up questions are added to your account immediately and don't expire.

  • Top-ups are available for the Standard plan
  • Each top-up adds 250 questions for €10
  • Top-up questions are used after your monthly and rollover quota

Response Quality

GPT-5 Mini (Smarter) provides high-quality responses optimized for document-based Q&A with enhanced reasoning for complex questions. All responses are generated based solely on your uploaded documents.

Error Codes

When something goes wrong, ChatDocs returns specific error codes to help identify the issue.

Data & Privacy

ChatDocs is committed to protecting your data. Here are the key points:

Data Storage

  • Location: All data stored in EU (AWS Frankfurt, eu-central-1)
  • Encryption: AES-256 at rest, TLS in transit
  • Backups: Encrypted daily backups retained for 35 days

AI & Your Data

  • Your documents are never used to train AI models
  • All AI processing stays within the EU — no data leaves European servers
  • Documents are processed only to generate responses to your questions
